Artist's Description
A small green island of life resists the flames
One more time the news reports flooded us with information of the wild forest fires raging around the world. Like the fish in the sea ideas float around that it is one of the effects of the change in the earth’s climate, of rising temperatures while others talk about deliberately manufactured disasters and just wave it off as if these blazing conflagrations were simply another ordinary incident in our everyday daily life that did not merit any new discussion. The source of my inspiration was the struggle by those small groups of peoples who continue to fight against this danger whatever the interpretation of the reason or the cause of this natural catastrophe, and in my drawing is symbolised by the small island of green existence amid this giant inferno.
About Richard CHESTER
Artist and Printmaker After art school came to Paris in the early eighties where for 10 years worked at the well known Stanley William Hayer's printmaking studio for contemporary viscosity etchings and engravings the *Atelier 17*. Now have moved to Angers in the famous valley de Loire and have set my own indépendant atelier where I do mostly digital paintings and also developed a new technique for prints based on new media and using of the chine collé method. The latest works too are in the New Media method but without the chin collé.
